New iPad vs. Galaxy Tab
Tablet computers have literally taken over the market of computers by storm and in this competition the two major contenders are the Android and Apple. Though there are a host of android tabs available in the market especially DELL and Streak but the galaxy tab is definitely considered as one of the finest contenders.

The battle between the two (android and apple) has brought the biggest question in glare of publicity: which one is the better option. The recently launched (novice) galaxy tab has attracted a lot of people and is all set to compete with the veteran Apple. According to the tech gurus the galaxy tab is more favorable and has proved to be a serious adversary to iPad. The Galaxy Tab has proved to be very successful within the first week of its launch. Thus the galaxy tab can attest to be as the utmost confront to the new iPad.
But those who are in favor of the new iPad have stated that the tab during video playback gives minimum 10 hours of service which is better as compared to the galaxy tab that lasts for 7 hours only. Following are the few major features compared between the galaxy tab and i Pad which will give you a greater idea about the discrepancy and will help you to understand these tabs better.
- Looks that is not deceptive
Galaxy Tab has a plastic body it weight is much lighter than the new i Pad. The touch screen display of Galaxy Tab is 1024 × 600 pixel the screen can be touched by bare fingers. The screen is of 7 inches. This tab has 2 cameras: a 3.2 rear MP LED flash camera and a 1.3 MP camera in front for video call purpose. The camera in the front can focus automatically. The camera is having features such as auto image stitching, combining 8 pictures. Modes consist of single shot, continuous shot, panorama shot, and self-shots.
The touch screen display of iPad is a (2048×1536 with a 3.1 million pixel) liquid crystal display in which the glass is not only scratchproof but also fingerprint resistant. The display can easily be controlled by fingers. The display screen is of 10 inches’ iPad has 4 physical buttons a home button and three separate buttons for wake or sleep and for volume up or down. The new iPad don’t have camera. The tab has an Apple A5X SoC with dual-core CPU, it also has graphics processor that is quad-core; it has a 5-megapixel rear-facing, which is capable of 1080p.
- Connectivity
The Samsung Galaxy supports GPS connection. It can use Wi-Fi network and Bluetooth 3.0; It also has hands free headphone telephony (Bluetooth). The Cellular protocols comprise of GSM, CDMA and HSPA.
The iPad supports Wi-Fi network trilateration which provides position information. It consists of a black strip at the back which aids 3G reception. There is a headphone jack and also Apple dock connector in an iPad, but has no USB port. This tab has a Bluetooth that is built-in. This tab supports headphones that are wireless. However, this does not support file transfer through Bluetooth to other system.
- Bond with the SIM
The Galaxy Tab has an outwardly accessible SIM slot. When the SIM card is disconnected from the system while it is on, the system boosts automatically. Galaxy Tabs can accommodate 3G data.
The iPad model does not have a mini-SIM but a micro-SIM slot. It can accommodate 3G data.
- Software
The Galaxy tab arrives with an Android 2.3 version of this system with some applications. Android 2.2 apps are developed by using the Google’s guiding principle, according to Adobe Flash 10.1, the DivX, MPEG-4 and other support has been proclaimed. This Tab uses maXTouch touch screen that is multi touch capacitive which supports the multi-tasking.
The iPhone, shares a software version (3.2 onwards) development kit. It runs on its own software that can be only downloaded from Apple’s App Store. Developers have also created to take benefit of the new iPad’s features.
- Battery power
The battery of the Samsung galaxy tab lasts only for 7 hours. The battery of the new iPad is lithium-ion polymer battery and has the capacity to last for 10 hours.
Well stage is set and the battle between the two is heating up. But Samsung Tab has shown greater success in the market than the new iPad. Thus we can say that the android have captured the market.
